Hi I'm Melanie

This is my story. I was born inspired - even as a child, my Barbies ans Sindy dolls had their own little hair and beauty salon. I loved experimenting with hairstyles (usually curling my hair to look like Kylie Minogue!) and was fascinated by skincare. My parents supported that love early on, always gifting me lotions and potions to explore.

Life threw some heavy challenges my way, including traumatic experiences that deeply impacted me. After surviving rape at eighteen and enduring bullying at college, I transferred to a new college that, thankfully, offered holistic therapy alongside beauty. That was a turning point. It introduced me to a whole new world of healing - not just for my clients, but for myself.

As I started to rebuild, I turned more and more to mindfulness, energy work, and holistic treatments to support my own healing. When the salon I worked closed down, and with industry changes making traditional employment harder, I followed the advice of family and loyal clients: I went mobile. I applied for support from The Prince's Trust and, with their grant in 2004, I placed my first ad in the paper - and Essential Mobile Hair and Beauty was born.

Running my own business hasn't been easy. There were times of burnout and deep personal struggle. But through it all, My passion never faded. Over time, I've integrated beauty, holistic healing , and spirituality into something truly unique.

Today, over 20 years later, I'm proud to say I've built long-lasting relationship with clients - some of whom I've supported through cancer, end-of-life care, birth, trauma, and more. I bring comfort, care, confidence, and calm - wherever people are on their journey.
